Staveley 3 Valleys Challenge - The Event

Both the short (25km) and long (46km) courses start and finish outside Wheelbase in Staveley Mill Yard. The starts are grouped at 5 minute intervals between 11.30 and 13.00. Start times will be allocated on entry.

Entries are available for both the long and short course for the following categories:
- Solo (male or female)
- Pair
- Team (groups of 3 or 4)

Each of these categories will also be available to riders using electric mountain bikes.

In addition, the following category is available for the short course:
- 'Youth & Experience' (2, 3 or 4 riders with at least 1 rider under 16 years old and 1 rider over 18 years old)

Route maps will be available on the day of the event, and the courses are well signed with marshals at regular intervals. There are a number of checkpoints around the course where riders must log in and light refreshments will be available. All riders get an end of event meal courtesy of Wilf’s café.

Everyone is then welcome to join in our post-event bash with live bands and presentations in the Hawkshead Brewery beer hall in Staveley Mill Yard from 6.00 pm.

LONG COURSE (approx. 46km with 1400m ascent)

Follow the same route as the short course until checkpoint 2 at Kentmere.

Please not that riders undertaking the Long Course must reach the Kentmere checkpoint (checkpoint 2) by 2.00pm to be allowed to continue on the full Long Course. After 2.00pm Long Course riders will be asked to instead complete the Short Course. This is in the interest of the Long Course marshal's welfare.

From checkpoint 2 take the Garburn Pass over into Troutbeck valley (checkpoint 3 at SE 413028).

After the checkpoint do a loop of the valley before riding up Moor Howe road then along the tracks up to High House and over Micklemoss to descend back into Kentmere (checkpoint 4 SE 457039).

From here finish over Green Quarter via checkpoint 5 as for the short course
